The Universal Participation Network

The UP Network includes the organizations that are a growing cohort of leaders and innovators in the field who serve to inspire other organizations.

UP Designated organizations have demonstrated a commitment to learn, take action, and embrace inclusivity as a core organizational value and possess organizational behaviors that reflect the aspirations of the UP Program. This means that the organization:

  • Provides training about inclusive culture
  • Engages user/experts to inform decision making and inspire change develop policies and programs
  • Coordinates and integrates a vision of inclusion throughout the entire organization
  • Innovates through creative problem solving

Organizations under the Universal Participation Initiative have received UP Designation directly through application or became ‘Designated’ upon completion of the Innovation and Learning Network (ILN). The Innovation and Learning Network provides organizations the opportunity for experiential, collaborative learning and program development. The EBT Card to Culture is an indicator of community involvement and accessibility and is encouraged alongside Designation. The Innovation Fund is available to organizations with UP Designation.

Based on a model of community practice, the ILN brings together organizations with shared interests and similar challenges to learn from each other over an extended period of time.  As organizations implement their individual plans, they will also contribute to the larger community.
