Arts Are Essential offers assembly programs, hands-on workshops for smaller groups, professional development and multi-day residencies that may culminate in student performances or family concerts. We also work in summer programs and arts camps, libraries and provide motivational-interactive programs geared toward at-risk-populations. AAE and our artists are committed to using the arts as teaching tools. Our assemblies, hands-on workshops, residencies, and professional development are geared toward supporting curriculum themes and standards. We have workshops and residency outlines and would love to customize a curriculum connection with you.

Jacob’s Pillow Curriculum in Motion® effectively teaches K-12 academic and dance curricula in classrooms and/or as a professional development program for classroom teachers. The program meets national and state arts education and academic standards by involving student-directed learning, co-teaching, peer-to-peer support, professional development, and metaphor as a bridge between the learning and creative processes. Prominent Pillow Artists and classroom teachers guide students in creating original movement material for a fully embodied learning experience. Boys participate as eagerly as girls, with both groups demonstrating improved critical thinking, peer and teacher social interactions, and higher scores on conceptual test questions as a result of their participation.

LBD: MA offers Children's Design Workshops that give young people the opportunity and skills they need to communicate their ideas about their built and natural environments, their community and themselves. LBD also provides curriculum consultations to schools looking to implement a design program or project. They also train teachers to use architecture and design themes to teach what they need to teach through hands-on, interdisciplinary, problem-solving activities.

Established in 1856, the Worcester Center for Crafts (WCC) is a leading educational institution for all ages, dedicated to the knowledge, appreciation and advancement of fine crafts and craftsmanship through education and special events that enrich the community. For over 10 years, the WCC has brought its expertise in experiential, integrated and interdisciplinary learning to students and teachers grades K-12. WCC initiatives include artist residencies connected to the Curriculum Frameworks; arts-based service learning and youth development programs; and programs designed especially for teachers.
