"Organizational
Support from the MCC has become
an essential component of MASS MoCA's organizational DNA.
We understand that support from the MCC today represents an
investment in the MASS MoCA of tomorrow." -Joseph Thompson,
MASS MoCA
Massachusetts is home to more than 2,500 nonprofit
organizations that provide public programs in the arts, humanities,
and sciences. These organizations connect Massachusetts residents
of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds with experiences
in everything from drama and music to visual arts and dance,
from science and technology to new languages and cultures.
As a key part of the state's economy, cultural nonprofits
provide nearly 37,000 jobs and contribute at least $4.2 billion
in economic impact. The state's museums, science centers,
orchestras, theaters and dance companies offer educational
programs to thousands of students across the Commonwealth.
As such, they are an integral component of a well-balanced
education system.
The Organizational Support program nurtures the development of
a robust cultural sector through three-year matching grants to organizations
with track records of excellence and community service. These grants,
in turn, leverage millions of dollars in private and foundation
investments.
Organizational Support is an essential source of funding that
can be applied to any aspect of operation - from paying for
heat and air conditioning to hiring artists to subsidizing school
visits. Recipients of OS funding range from large, well-known
cultural institutions to community art centers, service organizations,
and artist-led performance ensembles. A
full funding list is available.
In
addition to OS grants, MCC provides tools and resources to
help organizations achieve their missions and fulfill their
potential. Statewide conferences, workshops on Increasing
Cultural Participation, and an individualized advisor
program offer technical assistance and networking opportunities
to organizations at a low cost. The biennial Commonwealth
Awards celebrate accomplishments and garner recognition
for exceptional organizations and their leaders.
The Organizational
Support program is a core component of MCC's mission to expand
the pool of financial resources - both public and private
- available for the arts, sciences, and humanities across
the Commonwealth.
For information on applying to the Organizational Support program,
please see the application instructions.
