Arts Immersion Teacher Institutes
The MCC's Arts Immersion Teacher Institutes provide educators the
rare opportunity to work in depth; explore the contexts and meanings
of an exemplary work of art; engage in criticism and art-making;
and transfer their experiences to the classroom. The 2009
Arts Immersion Teacher Institute application deadline has passed.
The MCC will award $25,000 each to three institutes offered by
Massachusetts non-profit organizations, schools, universities, and
others. Institutes must take place over five days between July 1
and August 14, 2009 with a reconvening day in December 2009.
Each institute will be designed for arts specialists, classroom
teachers, teaching artists, and school administrators to immerse
them in the aesthetic, historical, and technical study of one exemplary
work of art as an "anchor work." The institutes will impart the
knowledge, skills, and pedagogy necessary for participants to return
to their classrooms to immerse students in the study of the same
work or another of their own choosing.
