Health Care Reform Info
Beginning July 1, 2007, all residents of Massachusetts over 18 years of age are required to have health insurance and must have proof of health insurance by December 31, 2007. Like required auto insurance, this requirement works to protect you and all of society by creating an environment of shared responsibility. Currently, 92% of Massachusetts residents receive some form of health insurance through their employers. If you currently have health insurance, you will need to verify that it meets the state's minimum standards. If you do not have health insurance, there are some new ways to get it.
This law is very complex and some of its provisions will be modified over time. The best way to ensure you are, at a minimum, in compliance with the law in order to avoid any financial penalties, is to contact one or more of the following organizations for assistance:
