Becoming American  |  Attleboro  |  2012

"Becoming American" was a multifaceted event established by Attleboro's 1 ABC a collaboration of nearly a dozen organizations in the community. The project ran for five months and featured cultural activities from five different immigrant groups Jewish, Central American, Cambodian, Italian, and Indian that represented the diverse population in Attleboro. Each month a sponsor agency provided insight into a particular group through interaction with individuals from that culture. Each presentation featured books and films, followed by a discussion, based on different issues facing immigrants. Programming allowed a unique opportunity for the audience to absorb the immigrant experience through art, food, dress, personal experience and cultural understanding of life.
