Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film and Video Festival  |  Cambridge  |  2003

"Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film and Video Festival" is the only one of its kind in the country run by young people 12-19 years old. In eight years, the festival grew to include more than 150 entries from across the U.S. Members of the Community Art Center's Teen Media Program managed all aspects of the festival

Where are they now?

Now in its 16th year, the DIYDS festival has 200 entries and draws over 800 youth and adults to public screenings to Cambridge each year. The festival now includes a Jr Video Reel for those ages 5-12 to be able to take part in the festival. The Community Art Center has also increased its teen leadership opportunities by providing teens with classes in festival management and graphic design leading up to the festival. The teens now lead festival planning and advisory committees, curate the films, moderate panels, MC public screenings, and coordinate all the events − allowing them to take complete ownership and responsibility of the festival.
