Mass Cultural Council is proud to partner with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services’ Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) on the EBT Card to Culture Program.
EBT Card to Culture is an extremely flexible, powerfully inclusive, community-based program that supports the goals of our Universal Participation Initiative. With the EBT card as an indicator of eligibility; participating cultural organizations throughout Massachusetts simply offer a regularly available, discounted or free, admission or tuition. Your organization’s participation is an easy and effective practice for helping more residents access the cultural treasures of our Commonwealth.
Mass Cultural Council works with EBT Card to Culture organizations to strengthen their communications, train their front line staff, and develop policies for successful engagement with EBT Card to Culture patrons. At the same time, the DTA promotes the EBT Card to Culture Program to their 450,000 constituents, highlighting the power of culture to serve all communities.
All arts, humanities, and science organizations supported by the Mass Cultural Council are encouraged to be a part of this voluntary program. There are many working examples for museums, performing arts organizations, membership-based organizations, and schools.
(For example, hear about Boston's Children's Museum's experience with offering EBT card discounts.)
