Credit & Publicity Kit
For LCC Standard and Field Trip Grant Recipients
Congratulations on receiving a Local Cultural Council grant! As
a recipient of public funds, we ask for your assistance in acknowledging
this important financial support publicly. LCC grant recipients
like you are vital partners in raising the visibility of the role
these funds play in the lives of our cultural organizations, audiences
and communities.
We are supplying you with instructions and tools to acknowledge
the public funding you receive, which will help show the link between
public support and the excellent work you do. Your help with this
effort is greatly appreciated. Any creative ways you can help publicize
how LCC grants support your work are important and helpful.
Grant recipients must acknowledge the local cultural council that
gave the grant, as well as the Massachusetts Cultural Council,
which provides funds to the LCC. Proof of credit acknowledgment
should be provided when you request reimbursement from the granting
LCC. (Please refer to the LCC
Regulations and Guidelines PDF for more information about
this policy.)
Thank you for your assistance with this effort. If you have any
questions, suggestions or feedback, please speak with the LCC
chair in your community or an MCC
staff member.
Please carefully review the Credit & Publicity information regarding
standard LCC grants and Field Trip
grants.
CREDITING LCC GRANTS
The MCC and the LCC must be credited by using the MCC's credit
logo and credit line. We encourage grant recipients to use both
the MCC logo and the credit statement, but they are only required
to use one. Please check your local
cultural council's web page in case they have their own local
credit requirements.
Logos are downloadable from this
site. The logo must be produced as a unit without alteration.
The credit line is as follows:
"This program is supported in part by a grant from the (name
of local cultural council), a local agency which is supported by
the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency."
Where to use the credit line and logo
Promotional Materials. Use the credit line and credit logo prominently in printed materials (this includes materials prepared by the grantee such as season and subscription brochures, programs, newsletters, press releases, educational materials and announcements) as well as in films or videos.
Online Materials. Use the credit line or credit
logo prominently in online materials (including web sites, blogs,
electronically distributed releases, and social media/networking
channels) to which your LCC grant contributes. The electronic logo
should link to the MCC web site, www.massculturalcouncil.org.
Grant recipients may not use logos on surveys.
Exhibition Signage. If there is no printed program
for an exhibition, credit can be given through wall text or a
placard placed at the entrance to the exhibit or performance space.
This must include the LCC and MCC listed with other major public,
private and corporate sponsors, in proportional order of the size
of contribution, or a placard crediting the LCC and MCC, placed
at the entrance to the exhibit or performance space.
Educational Materials. Use the credit line or credit
logo in educational materials distributed in association
with any LCC-funded program/exhibition, such as brochures, pamphlets,
flyers, etc.
Verbal Credit. When written credit is not applicable,
such as when there is no printed program, verbal credit shall
be given prior to each performance. If an announcement is not
feasible, a sign must be placed in the lobby using the credit
line and credit logo.
Advertising. Use the credit line and logo in print advertising that is 10 column inches or larger
that is placed by a grantee. Any advertising, regardless of size
or length, placed by a grantee that credits a specific funding source
must also credit the LCC and MCC.
Pending Approval. In cases where the proposed
project takes place prior to notification of final approval,
or where final approval comes after publication deadlines have passed,
in order to satisfy the credit and publicity requirement, grantees
may either:
Include the following credit statement in publications and press
prior to award notification:
"This program has applied for support from the [City/Town] Cultural
Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts
Cultural Council, a state agency."
Credit the LCC after award notification by:
- Writing a letter to his/her legislator regarding the public
support he/she received from the Local Cultural Council.
- Including the standard credit statement or MCC logo in any
subsequent press or publications such as newsletters, website
updates, etc.
CREDITING FIELD TRIP GRANTS
Use the credit line and/or MCC logo on any permission slips, letters, flyers, newsletters, etc. that mention your cultural field trip experience to recognize the granting LCC.
